Independent eater and another tooth!

While we were eating lunch yesterday, Hunter decided that he did not want to eat from the spoon that I was feeding him with and would rather do it himself. He zipped his lips shut and kept grabbing the spoon. We had already made a slight mess at this point so I decided to let him go for it. He banged the spoon and bowl on his tray a little bit and then decided to eat his lunch with his hands. Very messy!

Hunter's 2nd top tooth finally poked through today. I know this is totally going to change the way he looks. No more cute little baby smile - it's going to be a full blown toddler smile here shortly!

I'm also sad to report that he has his first illness. It seems like he has caught a little cold. He has a runny nose, a slight fever, and his little voice is hoarse. I hate it! Here's to hoping he feels better soon.

Hi Dog!

We now have one word and one sentence in Hunter's repertoire! He says "dada" all of the time and now, as of two days ago, he is saying "hi dog"! Here is the YouTube link:

New tooth!

Hunter's 3rd tooth has finally poked through! It is his top left tooth and it seems like it has been trying to come through for months. His poor little gums have been swollen and you can almost see the tooth underneath his gums. I know the 2nd top one isn't too far behind!

We also discovered a new favorite snack today - grapes! I was eating some and he kept staring at them and grabbing for them so I cut a few up into little bites for him and he gobbled them right up - along with many more!

Also, look how long his hair is getting on the top!

Baby dates and new foods

Last weekend Hunter, Andrew and I went to the Zilker Park Balloon Festival. It was the perfect day for it - just enough wind. There were a ton of people there but it was so fun seeing all of the pretty kites on the Austin skyline! It was chilly when we left in the morning and got up to about 80 that day so Hunter changed from long sleeves and jeans to a t-shirt and shorts throughout the day and was lathered up in sunscreen. I, however, forgot about myself and still have a lovely farmers tan on my arms that has finally faded from bright red to a more pinkish shade. :)

This week we went to Babytime at the Round Rock Library with Sara and Sally. Sally is 6 months old and is such a little cutie. He hasn't been around that many girls as it seems like most of our friends had boys last year, so it was cute to see them flirting with each other. :)

He tried a couple of new foods this week. Scrambled eggs started out not so great but ended up being a hit. Today he tried cottage cheese mixed with blueberries. He took about 4 bites and actually started crying when I was trying to get him to eat more! That is the first time he's really rejected a food. I told him I don't blame him - I don't like cottage cheese either. :) He's only had both once so we'll see how he fares with them in the future.

11 months

I can't believe we have an almost one year old! I think Hunter weighs about 18 lbs now and is about 28.5 inches long. We'll see what his official stats are next month at his Dr. appt. Doesn't look like we'd be able to turn that car seat around next month even if we wanted to!

We moved him from his infant carrier to his big boy car seat the weekend before last. I think he really likes it! He sits up straighter and higher in this one. I catch him looking out the window a lot and sometimes he just hangs one arm over the side like he is lounging. It's pretty cute.

Hunter is so much fun to be around. He is starting to wave and give high fives sometimes. He says dada all of the time but we're still working on mama. He is very inquisitive and is very brave, pulling up on anything he can. The other day I caught him up on the console table on all fours banging on the wedding album. Silly boy! I've yet to find a gate that works for either the stairs or the opening between the entry/living room so I spend all day hovering over him and making sure he's not getting in to any trouble!

He loves the refrigerator for some reason and makes a bee line for it whenever he sees us open it...

The weather here has been great so we've enjoyed being able to get back outside for our walks. We went down to a park in our neighborhood with our friends April and Owen and Hunter played on the swings for the first time. He loved it!

So far he's not showing any desire to take steps and just bounces up and down when you hold him up to stand. I'm not wishing for it to come any sooner than it is going to!
